PrestaShop Development
Development and customisation of PrestaShop online stores — the lean, European e-commerce solution for small and medium retailers.
PrestaShop — a lean e-commerce solution with European roots
PrestaShop is a lean, specialised e-commerce software widely used across Europe. It ships with much of what European retailers need: multiple languages, multiple currencies and EU-compliant tax and legal settings — without the overhead of large enterprise systems.
Custom modules instead of plugin chaos
PrestaShop is extendable through modules. I develop custom modules to the PrestaShop standard and adapt existing ones cleanly, so the shop stays lean, fast and updatable.
Custom themes
Instead of an off-the-shelf theme, I build a custom theme that fits your brand and works cleanly on every device.
PrestaShop or WooCommerce — a decision aid for EU retailers
Both systems compete in the same market segment, yet the question can be decided on facts:
- Content-heavy? If you blog a lot and build landing pages, you benefit from the WordPress foundation of WooCommerce.
- Catalogue-heavy? Many variants, tiered prices, several currencies and customer groups — PrestaShop covers this without a stack of plugins.
- B2B basics built in: price rules per customer group and invoicing ship with PrestaShop out of the box.
- Team experience: if your team already maintains WordPress, WooCommerce saves onboarding time.

The Addons marketplace: light and shade
The official PrestaShop Addons marketplace offers thousands of modules — but quality varies considerably, licences apply per shop and updates cost money on an ongoing basis. Before any purchase I review the candidate’s code quality, override behaviour and performance impact. And I calculate openly when a custom module pays off: three commercial modules with annual fees are, over five years, often more expensive than one tailor-made development without follow-up costs.
EU taxes and localisation set up properly
Since the One-Stop-Shop scheme, the rule is: above €10,000 in EU-wide annual B2C revenue, the VAT of the destination country applies. In PrestaShop I configure tax rules per delivery country, set up invoice number sequences and align price display, withdrawal policy and checkout texts with the legal situation for Austrian retailers — including the correct 20% base rate and reduced rates where they apply.

Frequently asked questions about PrestaShop development
Who is PrestaShop suitable for?
For small and medium retailers who want a specialised, lean shop — with multilingual support and EU-compliant settings out of the box, without the effort of large systems.
PrestaShop or WooCommerce?
PrestaShop is a shop system from the ground up, WooCommerce builds on WordPress. If you already use WordPress, WooCommerce is often the better fit; if you want a pure shop system, PrestaShop.
Do you build custom PrestaShop modules?
Yes. I develop modules to the PrestaShop standard and adapt existing ones so the shop stays lean and updatable.
Can an existing shop be migrated?
Yes. Migration to PrestaShop 8 and transfer of products, customers and orders are possible.
